3G or 3rd Generation (International Mobile Telecommunications-2000 (IMT-2000)) services are now the international standard in mobile tele communication, with higher bit rates up to 14 Mbps uplink and 5 Mbps downlink.
Read an article in Businessline about the 3G auctions in India. The 3G tarrifs in India and the impact of the bid over the 3G specturum and so on.
BTW, in the bid Bharathi came out as the no:1 bidder with 12295 crores, and they do think that this rate is on the higher side (cue: prices of 3G may go up)
